In April, at Christie's in New York the top seller was a necklace with a 115.83-carat diamond. It brought $6.3 million at the live Magnificent Jewels auction.
The F-color, VVS1 pear-shaped diamond is set in a necklace with 31 brilliant diamonds and comes from the cutting of the main diamond, ranging from 0.97 to 5.50 carats. The total amount at the auction amounted to 28.1 million USD, with 83% of lots sold.
With a delicate pear-shaped cut with an extremely beautiful, perfect blue color inside, it is a type IIb diamond weighing 7.16 carats with a price of 3.9 million USD, equivalent to 538,408 USD per carat, exceeding the previous estimate.
Other notable items include a 25.22-carat, D-color, type IIa brilliant pear-cut diamond. The stone, which has a clarity of VVS2, but is likely internally flawless, fetched $2.1 million, or $81,483 per carat, in the middle of its predetermined price range. A flawless, cut, brilliant, 15.20 carat, D color diamond ring fetched $915,000, above estimate.
Meanwhile, a jadeite, diamond and colored diamond necklace by Anna Hu, estimated to be worth between $1 million and $1.5 million, remains unsold.
Christie's will hold its major jewelry sale in London on July 30, while the Jewels Online auction is open until August 7.
