GEMPEN DIAMOND SCORE (GEMOMETRICS BRAND)

With the increasing presence of CVD/HPHT synthetic diamonds on the market, consumers and businesses need more advanced methods to identify these products. The price of artificial diamonds is only 30% of that of natural diamonds. However, synthetic diamonds from CVD HPHT methods are increasingly advanced and are truly indistinguishable by eye or conventional diamond testing equipment. And to solve this problem, the GemPen diamond scanner has been launched to help identify diamonds created from the HPHT & CV laboratory.

GemPen provides users with the means to effectively determine whether a diamond is natural, synthetic (man-made), or treated (visually enhanced to increase value). This tool is portable, durable and gives instant results. GemPen is used to confirm gemstones.

GemPen can help identify different treatment methods (HPHT, CVD, irradiation, etc.) in natural and synthetic gemstones. GemPen uses high-power UV light and specific wavelenght filters to induce quenched fluorescence or phosphorescence in the gemstone.

GemPen is a diamond verification tool for loose and mounted stones, designed to separate diamonds from synthetic diamonds. It is suitable for field gemologists, diamond buyers, wholesalers and retailers.

GemPen Darkroom allows users to create a portable environment, making it easier to interpret results more accurately. This free tool features a UVB protective filter viewing glass to better observe fluorescence and phosphorescence effects in natural, synthetic, and treated gemstones. The darkroom allows users to work hands-free with their GemPen® and has three different functions: screening single stones, multiple stones, and rings.

Hempen Parts

1.Viewer with UVB lens

2. This part has three change functions:

  • 2.1 – Single stone hexagonal tray
  • 2.2 – Pillar for multi-stone sliding tray
  • 2.3 – Pillars for Bracket rings

(3) Multi-ice sliding tray

(4) Ring holder

(5) Hexagonal base

There are 3 ways to view gemstones and rings with your Darkroom:

– Single kick (2.1)

– Multi-ice sliding tray (2.2 & 3)

– Ring holder (2.3 & 4)

View Single Stone:

  • Place your GemPen® on the tip of the Darkroom Viewer (1)
  • Install the Single Stone Hexagonal Tray (2.1) into the hexagonal base (5)
  • Place single gems in the hexagonal tray with single stones (2.1)
  • Insert the GemPen® and Viewer (1) on the Single Stone Hex Tray (2.1) Turn on the GemPen® to observe the indicators.
  • Compare observed indications with the Diamond Map or Gemstone Map to interpret the results.

See More Stones:

  • Insert your GemPen® into the tip of the Darkroom Viewer (1)
  • Insert the Multi-Ice Slide Base (2.2) into the Hexagonal Base (5)
  • Insert the Ice Slide Tray (3) into the Base for the Ice Slide Tray (2.2)
  • Place ice in the multi-ice sliding tray (3)
  • Install the GemPen® and Viewer (1) onto the Base (2) and Ice Slide Tray (3)
  • Turn on the GemPen® to observe the indicators.
  • Compare observed indications with the Diamond Map or Gemstone Map to interpret the results.

See the rings:

  • Insert your GemPen® into the tip of the Darkroom Viewer (1)
  • Insert the base for the ring holder (2.3) into the hexagonal base (5).
  • Place the ring on one side of the ring holder (4), connected to the side of the Ring Holder
  • Ring Set & Ring Holder (4)
  • Compare observed indications with the Diamond Map or Gemstone Map to interpret the results.

How to distinguish diamonds by looking at them

Diamonds that only fluoresce in a blue-white color can be identified as natural diamonds

Diamonds that fluoresce in other colors can be identified as synthetic diamonds

Diamonds that fluoresce in other colors and in some cases also show some phosphorescence can be identified as synthetic diamonds

Diamonds with moderate to strong greenish yellow fluorescence and strong luminescence can be identified as synthetic diamonds (usually HPHT).

Diamonds with purplish blue fluorescence indicate that natural diamonds have been HPHT treated

Fluorescent and phosphorescent diamonds with a deep blue color can be identified as synthetic diamonds
