RARE PURPLE PINK DIAMOND IS ABOUT TO BE SOLD FOR 38 MILLION USD

An extremely rare 15.81 carat purple-pink diamond called “The Sakura Diamond”.

Called "The Sakura Diamond", this 15.81 carat pink diamond is extremely rare with a unique vivid purple-pink color.

For nearly 10 years, pink diamonds have been among the most sold diamonds at auction. They have always been prized for their beauty and rarity. The pink color in diamonds is due to deformation of the molecular crystal lattice, which is a random occurrence. This makes pink diamonds extremely difficult to cut out of their rough form. As a result, less than 10% of pink diamonds are over 0.20 carats in size.

According to the auction house, this diamond has an unprecedentedly large size of 15.81 carats. This is the largest diamond in the "fancy vivid pink purple" line ever sold at auction.

In addition, according to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), only 4% of pink diamonds have a color dark enough to reach "strange vividness".

Last November, an extremely rare pink diamond called "The Spirit of Rose", weighing 14.83 carats, was also auctioned for 26.6 million USD. (more than 600 billion VND).

The pea-sized diamond with a “fancy vivid purple-pink color” was initially expected to sell for $38 million. However, later, the diamond was purchased for $26.6 million. According to Sotheby's auction, this is the most expensive purple pink diamond ever sold at auction.
